Motion carried.Moved and seconded adopt Res No. 03-29 Approving Substitution of Securities for United Nebr Bank.Motion carried.The following resolution was presented: RESOLUTION NO. 03-30 WHEREAS, the Veterans’ Aid Fund was created by the Platte County Board of Supervisors to account for taxes levied and collected to provide food, shelter, fuel, wearing apparel, medical and surgical aid, or in bearing funeral expenses for veterans and their families; and WHEREAS, per State Statute 80-409, the county board is authorized and directed to provide, by special levy or out of the general fund of the county, such amount as shall be necessary for the use of the county service committee to aid and enable such service committee to carry out and execute its functions, powers an duties; and WHEREAS, an exact accounting has been followed in both the revenues and expenditures of these funds. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Platte County Board of Supervisors, that the Veterans’ Aid Fund be dissolved effective July 1, 2003. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the revenue received and expenditures for veterans’ aid be placed in the General Fund. Dated this 17th day of June, 2003. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Platte County Board of Supervisors, that the Employment Security Act Fund be dissolved effective July 1, 2003. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Board of Platte County,Nebraska,shall and does hereby give its consent to the Platte County Treasurer to invest in United States government bonds,bonds and debentures issued either singly or collectively by any of the twelve federal land banks,under the supervision of the Farm Credit Administration,
United States Treasury Notes,from the date of purchase,or in certificates of deposit. The interest received from investments shall be credited to the County General Fund of Platte County fiscal year 2003-2004. The following resolution was presented: RESOLUTION NO.03-34 WHEREAS,the Platte County Treasurer has for a number of co-mingled funds from various governmental bodies for the purpose of meeting the minimum investment requirements necessary to receive higher interest rates on the investment of such funds pursuant to law;and WHEREAS,the Platte County Treasurer has been distributing the interest received from such investments to such various bodies proportionate to each body’s respective contribution to the principal amount of such investment;and WHEREAS, the Platte County Treasurer desires that this practice be ratified and approved by the County Board of Supervisors. NOW,
THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that to the full extent permission under law, the practice of the Platte County Treasurer of co-mingling funds from various governmental bodies for the purposes of meeting the minimum investment requirements necessary to receive higher interest rates and the distribution of such funds in proporation to the respective body’s share of the investment be ratified,approved and authorized.Dated this 17th day of June,2003.

A sixty-six (66’) feet wide strip of land for road purposes, thirty-three (33’) feet each side of the line common to Sections 1 and 12, Township 20 North, Range 3 West of the 6th P.M.,Platte County,Nebraska, containing 8.0 acres more or less; and NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Highway Superintendent proceed with the study of said portion of public road as per Neb. The Co Bd discussed the appointment of an Interim Public Defender. Moved and seconded appoint Samuel Bethune as Interim Public Defender on a weekly basis, starting June 23,2003, at a weekly salary of $841.20 ($168.24 per day) with no benefits, effective until a new Public Defender is appointed. Motion carried. The following resolution was presented: RESOLUTION NO. 03-35 WHEREAS, there exists an emergency in the County certain departments operating within the County General fund which has been created by necessary unanticipated expenses arising therein. WHEREAS, it appears that the departments immediately following will be overdrawn when the June 2003 claims are allowed in the sum of $317293.83: Elect Comm $781.98- County Court $10900.70- Building & Grounds $69342.57 and WHEREAS, such an additional appropriations needs to be made to meet such emergency expense. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with Section 23-918 Revised Statutes of Nebraska,that an additional $81025.25 be appropriated out of the unexpended General Fund items of the 2002-2003 County Budget to meet such emergency for the several departments.
