presented. Moved and seconded approve tax corrections #13226 thru #13233 for
real estate and personal property as recommended by the Co Assessor.Motion
carried.Moved and seconded approve the permissive exemption for the Region IV
duplex. Motion carried.Moved and seconded approve the mtr vehicle exemptions as

following resolution was presented:
RESOLUTION NO. 05-07 WHEREAS,the
use of illegal drugs and the abuse of alcohol and nicotine constitute the
greatest threats to the well-being of America’s children; WHEREAS, surveys
conducted by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at
Columbia University have consistently found that more often children and
teenagers eat dinner with their families the less likely they are to smoke,
drink and use illegal drugs; WHEREAS, teenagers who virtually never eat dinner
with their families are 72 percent more likely than the average teenager to use
illegal drugs, alcohol and cigarettes; WHEREAS, teenagers who almost always eat
dinner with their families are 31 percent less likely than the average teenager
to use illegal drugs, alcohol and cigarettes; WHEREAS, the correlation between
family dinners and reduced risk for teen substance abuse are well documented;
WHEREAS, parental influence is known to be one of the most crucial factors in
determining the likelihood of substance abuse by teenagers; WHEREAS, family
dinners have long constituted a substantial pillar of family life in America;
NOW,THEREFORE, the Platte County Board of Supervisors do hereby proclaim the
fourth Monday of September as Family
Day—A Day to Eat Dinner With Your Children and urge all citizens to

Richard Arndt, Platte Center Rural Fire District is requesting to transfer
properties from Monroe Fire District into Platte Center Rural Fire District.
Moved and seconded a special meeting for a hearing be
set for 5-24-05 at 7:00p.m. in the
Community Room in the basement of the Courthouse regarding the transfer of
properties from Monroe Fire District to Platte Center Rural Fire District.
Motion carried. Bradley Bare, Smith Hayes Financial discussed the Rural Road
Improvement District #2 Bonds with the Co Bd.Moved and seconded to approve the
Veterans Officers request to purchase 80 grave marking emblems and rods at a
cost of approximately $1400.00.Motion carried.The special purchase of a used
tractor with 140 hp or more was considered by the Co Bd and Hwy Supt. Moved and
seconded accept the quote from Beller& Backes for a used Mx 180 tractor for
$62500.00. Motion failed.Moved and seconded authorize the Hwy Supt to go out
for bids on a new tractor to be opened on 5-17-05 at 9:30a.m.Motion failed.Moved and seconded
authorize the Chairman to sign the utility appl for Glen Sheridan. Motion
carried.Moved and seconded authorize the Hwy Supt to advertise for supply bids
(except fuel) to be opened on 5-17-05 at 9:30a.m.Motion carried.Moved and
seconded approve the wage package for the Hwy Dept employees in Platte Center
of 3.15% to be effective 4-25-05.Motion carried.Moved and seconded approve the
salary increases for the office staff of the Hwy Dept as follows: Hwy Supt from
$44000.00 to $45600.00, Deputy Clk from $29000.00 to $29900.00 and Assist Hwy
Supt at $34000.00.Motion carried. Committee Reports: Supervisor Friedrichsen
attended the Ext Service meeting and the viaduct meeting. He also has a meeting
Friday at the Juvenile Detention
Center in Madison.
Supervisor Franzen met with the BCBS Advisory Committee. Supervisor Martens has
an annual meeting on 5-24-05
with the East-Central Dist Hlth Dept. Moved and seconded authorize the Co Atty
to purchase three computers at $913.00 each, three printers not to exceed
$150.00 each, for a total of $3189.00 to be taken out of the capital acct.
Motion carried.Moved and seconded that the following claims be approved as
presented and the Co Clk be ordered to issue warrants of the same on the
