05-35 WHEREAS, 23-1114, Neb.Rev.Stat. (Reissue 1987), requires the Board
of Supervisors of Platte County,Nebraska to fix the salaries of all elected
officers of the County of Platte, Nebraska, prior to January 15 of any year in
which a general election will be held for the respective county elective
offices; and WHEREAS, Secs. 32-307, 32-308, and 32-310, Neb.Rev.Stat. (Reissue
1988) and 23-268, Neb.Rev.Stat. (Reissue 1987), provide the general
elections shall be held in 2006 for the office of Platte County Clerk, Platte
County Assessor, Platte County Sheriff, Clerk of the District Court of Platte
County, Platte County Register of Deeds, Platte County Treasurer, Platte County
Attorney, Platte County Public Defender, Platte County Surveyor and Platte
County Supervisor (in off-numbered districts); and WHEREAS, Sec. 23-1114.09 Neb.Rev.Stat.
(Reissue 1987) provides that the salary of one full-time deputy of the various
county offices shall not be less that sixty-five percent (65%) of the county
officer’s salary; and WHEREAS, the next four (4) year term of the Platte
County, Nebraska Election Commissioner will begin on January 4, 2007 and end on
January 6, 2010 and whereas the Platte County, Nebraska Board of Supervisors
wished to keep the Election commissioners Office separate from any other
elected official’s office, be it resolved that a person shall be appointed by the Platte County, Nebraska
Board of Supervisors to service as Platte County, Nebraska, Election
Commissioner prior to the beginning of each new four (4) year term; and
WHEREAS, the deadline for filing for any elected office of Platte County for
the primary election of May 9, 2006 is February 15, 2006, for the incumbent and
March 1, 2006 for all other candidates; and BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS OF PLATTE COUNTY, NEBRASKA, the annual salary of the office of
the Platte County Clerk be established at $47,000.00 for the calendar year
2007. That for each year thereafter a $1,100.00 increase shall be added to the
previous year’s salary so that the total amount paid for the calendar year 2008
shall be $48,100.00, for the calendar year 2009 shall be $49,200.00 and for the
calendar year 2010 shall be $50,300.00.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the County Board
has appointed the County Clerk as the budget making authority and would be paid
an additional compensation of $1,500.00 in the years of 2007, 2008, 2009 and
2010. The additional compensation would then become part of the County
Clerk’s salary and would be subject
to the calculation of the filing fee. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the annual salary
of the office of the Platte County Assessor be established at $47,000.00 for
the calendar year 2007.That for each year thereafter a $1,100.00 increase shall
be added to the previous year’s salary so that the total amount paid for the
calendar year 2008 shall be $48,100.00, for the calendar year 2009 shall be
$49,200.00 and for the calendar year 2010 shall be $50,300.00.BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, the annual salary of the office of the Platte County Register of
Deeds be established at $47,000.00 for the calendar year 2007.That for each
year thereafter a $1,100.00 increase shall be added to the previous year’s salary
so that the total amount paid for the calendar year 2008 shall be $48,100.00,
for the year 2009 shall be $49,200.00 and for the calendar year 2010 shall be
$50,300.00.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,the annual salary of the office of the Platte
County Treasurer be established at $47,000.00 for the calendar year 2007.That
for each year thereafter a $1,100.00 increase shall be added to the previous
year’s salary so that the total amount for the calendar year 2008 shall be
$48,100.00, for the calendar year 2009 shall be $49,200.00 and for the calendar
year 2010 shall be $50,300.00.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,the annual salary of the
office of the Platte County Clerk of the District Court be established at
$47,000.00 for the calendar year 2007.That for each year thereafter a $1,100.00

FURTHER RESOLVED,the annual salary of the office of the Platte County Sheriff
be established at $56,500.00 for the calendar year 2007.That for each year
thereafter a $1,100.00 increase shall be added to the previous years salary so
that the total amount paid for the calendar year 2008 shall be $57,600.00, for
the calendar year 2009 shall be $58,700.00 and for the calendar year 2010 shall
be $59,800.00.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,the annual salary of the office of the
Platte County Attorney be established at $61,000.00 for the calendar year
2007.That for each year thereafter a $1,100.00 increase shall be added to the
previous years salary so that the total amount paid for the calendar year 2008
shall be $62,100.00, for the calendar year 2009 shall be $63,200.00 and for the
calendar year 2010 shall be $64,300.00.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,the annual salary
of the office of the Platte County Public Defender be established at $50,100.00
for the calendar year 2007.That for each year thereafter a $1,100.00 increase
shall be added to the previous years salary so that the total amount paid for
the calendar year 2008 shall be $51,200.00, for the calendar year 2009 shall be
$52,300.00 and for the calendar year 2010 shall be $53,400.00.BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that, beginning with the term of office commencing on January 4, 2007,
the Platte County Attorney and Platte County Public Defender shall devote his
or her full time to the legal work of the county and shall not engage in the
private practice of law directly or indirectly and shall not directly or
indirectly refer any legal matter of civil or criminal litigation to any lawyer
nor directly or indirectly recommend or suggest to any person the employment of
any particular lawyer or lawyers to counsel in, conduct, defend or prosecute any
action, case, claim, demand, or legal proceeding, whether in litigation or
otherwise. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,the annual salary of the office of the Platte
County Surveyor be established at $14,000.00 for the calendar year 2007.That
for each year thereafter a $350.00 increase shall be added to the previous
years salary so that the total amount paid for the calendar year 2008 shall be
$14,350.00, for the calendar year 2009 shall be $14,700.00 and for the calendar
year 2010 shall be $15,050.00.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,the annual salary of the
office of the Platte County Supervisor be established at $13,750.00 for the
calendar year 2007.That for each year thereafter a $250.00 increase shall be
added to the previous years salary so that the total amount paid for the
calendar year 2008 shall be $14,000.00, for the calendar year 2009 shall be
$14,250.00 and for the calendar year 2010 shall be $14,500.00.BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED,that in addition to the above established salaries, each elected
county officer shall receive at the expense of the County of
Platte,Nebraska,single coverage health and medical insurance as offered by the
group insurance plan to which the County of Platte,Nebraska,is a subscriber,
unless the elected officer would either waive or opt out of such county
benefit, and that when such persons subscribe to family coverage or such other
coverage offered under said group insurance plan, the County of Platte,
Nebraska shall pay eighty seven and one-half percent (87.50%) of the coverage
premium. Department heads appointed by the Platte County,Nebraska,Board of
Supervisors will be included with all other elected Platte
County,Nebraska, officials for
health and medical insurance benefits. If the Federal Legislation changes, the
Platte County,Nebraska,Board of Supervisors has the right to change the health
insurance to comply with federal law. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that all elected
officials of the County of Platte, Nebraska, shall be enrolled in and receive
the benefits of the County Employees Retirement System. Pursuant to the County
Employees Retirement Act, Sec.
23-2301 to 23-2331, Nebr.

carried. Wilma Arp,Comprehensive Juvenile Services presented more info on the

approve the cost of a concrete bldg for the county communications tower not to
