session beginning at 9:00 in the

Supervisors Martens,Friedrichsen, Lloyd,Pfeifer,Franzen,Tooley and Chairman
Woerth.The Aff Publ from the Col Tele and Humph Demo for notice of public
meeting were presented.Moved and seconded authorize the Co Sher to advertise
for a new deputy. Motion carried.Moved and seconded approve the minutes of 8-16-05 and 8-24-05.Motion
carried.The Co Bd discussed Life Insurance coverage for county employees on the
county health plan. Moved and seconded to accept the bid from Jefferson Pilot
for a $10,000.00 accidental death life insurance for employees on the county
hlth plan in the amt of $490.87 per
month effective 91-05. Motion carried.Moved and seconded to accept the bid from
Eller Htg for a new boiler in the amt of $44361.00.Motion withdrawn. Moved and
seconded to refer the boiler bids to the Bldg Grds Comm for clarification. Motion carried.The petition from Richard Kamm requesting
maintenance and care of the Platte Center Baptist Cemetery by the Hwy Dept personnel. Moved and seconded to place the

to hear testimony on the program and performance on
CDBG Grant #02-ED-022(Shell Valley).

Grant #04-ED-009(B-D Medical). Moved and seconded to conclude the hearing at
9:36a.m.Motion carried. Royce Campbell discussed the condition of the East 29th
Avenue road with the Co Bd.The Personnel Committee discussed the General Assist
Adm position with the rest of the Co Bd. Moved and seconded to appoint Sharon
Bahr to the position of General Assist Adm working twenty (20) hours per week
with a salary of $10.50 per hour starting 9-12-05. Motion carried. Tim Hofbauer
discussed the reason for Family Preparedness Day in Platte
County with the Co Bd. The
following resolution was presented: RESOLUTION NO. 05-25 WHEREAS, Today,
preparedness is more relevant than ever as we confront a changing America
fill of unique challenges. With troubling headlines, nonspecific terrorist
threats and fluctuations of the Homeland Security Advisory System, individuals
are more concerned than ever about their well-being – and their ability to
react quickly and appropriately in an emergency; and WHEREAS, For years, community service agencies have provided relief
to victims of disasters while helping people prevent, prepare for and respond
to emergencies. Over 100,000 Nebraskans in schools, workplaces and neighborhoods
throughout the state have taken preparedness classes. Victims of some 500
disasters turn to neighbors familiar and new – the thousands of service agency
volunteers; and WHEREAS, In a collaborative effort with the federal government
and other members of the emergency planning community, and its partners are
leading the way in empowering individuals and families to protect themselves
through preparedness education and training. Knowledge of preparedness actions
can help us to protect ourselves and our loved ones whether we face house
fires, tornadoes, act of terrorism or other unforeseen events; and WHEREAS, The
victims of more than 500 disasters – from fires that displaced a family to the
flood and hail storms of Central Nebraska – received
help from the community service agencies last year. Compassionate and caring
people who want to make a difference in Nebraska
and across the nation, at home and abroad, channel their support through these
agencies. NOW, THEREFORE, I County Board of Supervisors Chairman John Woerth by
virtue of the authority vested in my by the County of Platte do hereby proclaim
September 18, 2005 as Family Preparedness Day in the County of Platte. I call
upon our citizens of Platte County
to become partners in preparedness with their local service agencies and to
become active participants in advancing their noble mission. On behalf of a
grateful county, I applaud and recognize the selfless dedication of generations

NO. 05-26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHAIRPERSON AND PLATTE COUNTY BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF COLUMBUS, NEBRASKA: WHEREAS, Platte County, Nebraska proposes to
apply for assistance from the TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM for the
purpose of constructing a pedestrian/cyclist trail which will connect two
trails; and WHEREAS, the project includes the construction of a 10-foot wide
pedestrian/cyclist trail which will connect two trails – the Wilderness Park
Trail and the Robert “Bob” White Trail. The trail will be 6,000 feet in length
with a concrete surface. The trail would be constructed on 18th
Avenue from Lake Babcock (Robert “Bob” White Trail) to Wilderness Park Trail
located near the Lost Creek Flood Control Project; and WHEREAS, Platte County,
Nebraska has available a minimum of 20% of the project cost ($39,631.00 from
Platte County and the balance from the Lower Loup NRD and Columbus Area
Recreational Trails C.A.R.T.) and has the financial capability to operate and
maintain the completed facility in a safe and attractive manner for public use;
and WHEREAS, proposed application and supporting documents were made available
for public review at a properly announced meeting of Platte County. NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHAIRPERSON AND PLATTE COUNTY BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF COLUMBUS, NEBRASKA, that Platte
County applies for assistance from
the Transportation Enhancement Program for the purpose of constructing

attended a meeting on the museum and it is still progressing. Supervisor Franzen’ s term on the NIRMA Bd will expire. He would like
the support from the Co Bd for re-nomination. Supervisor Friedrichsen attended
a meeting in Madison at the Juvenile
Detention Center
