The new facility is approximately 60,000
sq. feet. The facility designed to hold 135 inmates, is a two story building
with a second floor mezzanine.
The Corrections Division is
operated under the Office of the Sheriff. The Director is a sworn officer
with the rank of Lieutenant. The Detention Center provides a secure holding
facility for persons legally confined in Platte County, including pre-trial,
pre-sentence and sentenced adult male and female inmates. The facility also
houses inmates from other counties within the State.
The current jail facility has
a total of 38 full time male and female correction officers that man the
facility 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
