The Mission of the Victim Assistance Unit
is to actively promote the rights and interests of crime victims by
providing them with a voice and advocacy as their case moves through the
criminal justice system.
The Victim Assistance Unit is a free
service offering information, practical assistance and crisis
intervention to victims of serious crime in Platte County.
Assistance is given to victims in filing crime victims' compensation
applications, arranging for emergency services and social service
referrals. Information is given regarding the prosecution of the
case and court-related matters, as well as accompaniment to court
proceedings.
